The Director of Engagement plans and executes all fundraising events for Historic Macon Foundation and manages digital and print communication materials such as press releases, quarterly newsletters, and e-newsletters.  In 2018 the organization worked with Jessica Lanier Walden to create a Communications Strategy Report that guides Director of Engagement.

Additionally, the Director of Engagement is responsible for fulfilling our mission by using communication techniques to engage new audiences in historic preservation, advertise our success and growth, and to inspire the public to appreciate Macon through engaging events.  This staff person plans and executes all fundraising and “friend-raising” events (50% of position) for Historic Macon Foundation, manages digital and print communication materials, including graphic design (40% of position), and assists with general administrative tasks (10% of position).  This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with staff, Board members, and numerous committee members and volunteers.  The position requires regular work on evenings and weekends outside of normal business hours, but is offset by monthly flexible time.

The successful employee will be creative, well-organized, efficient and extroverted.  The employee will also be an excellent communicator and fluent in digital and traditional communication forms. We are looking for a team member who brings professional skills in marketing, communications and event planning and who can assist in strengthening all aspects of our mission, including public outreach, fundraising, marketing real estate, event management, and increasing general awareness about our activities and success.

Required Qualifications:

-Experience in planning and executing special events and fundraisers with a variety of stakeholders
-Confidence and enthusiasm working with a diverse volunteer cohort
-Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, marketing, public relations or related field
