The American Battlefield Trust, America's largest non-profit battlefield preservation organization, is seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for protecting historic open space. The position of Land Preservation Associate in the Trust’s Real Estate Department is immensely satisfying, as he/she will support the Trust’s efforts to preserve in perpetuity historically important sites associated with the Civil War, Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812.
The Land Preservation Associate will be primarily responsible for office support activities for the Real Estate Department, including filing (electronically and physically); updating and reviewing various spreadsheets; organizing transactional documents relating to acquisitions, dispositions, conservation easements and grants; conducting research related to historic land use and land preservation projects, including but not limited to zoning and comprehensive plans; responding to inquiries regarding land transactions; and handling other administrative tasks. Additional responsibilities for this position may include providing support for the preparation and submission of Federal, State and Local government grant applications; land stewardship activities; and other special projects.
The candidate must be detail-oriented and must possess strong knowledge of MS Office programs, strong organization and communication skills, and strong problem-solving and research abilities. A B.A./B.S. degree and at least three (3) years’ relevant professional experience are required. Land preservation experience is a plus. A passion for saving American history is essential. Salary is commensurate with experience.
