Please include a brief (1-2 paragraph) description of the position: : In advance of receiving status as a DC Main Street (expected October 2019), the Glover Park Alliance is searching for the right person to manage the Glover Park Main Street (GPMS) program. This is a grant-funded position and the grant award is pending.
The goal of GPMS, as described in the Alliance’s application for Main Street status is: “To use the Main Street model to strengthen Glover Park’s business economy through activities designed to bring more patrons to the area by making it livelier and more attractive, marketing it as a unique and appealing destination, and improving access to it by car, bike, bus, and foot.”

The GPMS director needs to be a highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter with experience or interest in economic development and neighborhood improvement. A background in fundraising, sales/marketing, event production, or non-profit management is a plus. A successful candidate will be able to handle the challenges and problems that come with launching a small, non-profit start-up and achieving a set of first-year goals.
Minimum qualifications include a B.A. or B.S. degree, and either two years of relevant work experience or an advanced degree in a related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Web experience, especially with social media platforms, is desirable, as are supervisory skills.
