As Architexas’ Senior Historic Preservation Specialist, Jay serves a variety of roles in ensuring the firm’s work is in compliance with preservation standards and governmental regulations. This work involves everything from the evaluation and documentation of historic resources to assisting clients in navigating complex governmental reviews and obtaining financial incentives. Formerly a courthouse specialist at the Texas Historical Commission, Jay continues to lead the firm’s efforts to document and obtain grant funding for the restoration of these important historic county buildings. His diverse body of work has been recognized with Preservation Dallas Preservation Achievement Awards, Preservation Texas Historic Rehabilitation Awards, The National Trust’s National Preservation Achievement Award and an Award for Excellence from the American Society of Landscape Architects. Jay is a member of Preservation Dallas and served as Vice Chair of Dallas Central Business District, West End, and Individual Sites Task Force, for eighteen years. In his spare time Jay enjoys his own DIY conservation projects and can be found camping in his vintage VW Westfalia with his wife, Amelia, and daughters, Sydney and Isabella.
