    Hello all!

I'm looking for a subject matter expert on the siting and design of schools for walkability. I'm looking for someone who has direct experience and/or can point to real world examples in the U.S. We have a speaker series in Knoxville, TN, on various matters related to walkability, and I'm looking for someone who can come talk to us on this topic. We have funding for travel and a stipend.

    Thanks much,

    Ellen,

A while back the National Trust developed guidance about school walkability, aptly entitled "Helping Johnny Walk to School" (and following up on an earlier initiative entitled "Why Johnny Can't Walk to School"). Perhaps there are some names in the policy documents available online, which were authored by @Renee Kuhlman. Hope you can find someone to join your speaker series!

    Contact Safe Routes to School.

There was also a federal funding program by this name that lapsed around 2013. There will be someone in your state's Dept of Transportation who will be able to talk about it. Wisconsin examples provided:

Thanks, Tim, I'm very familiar with the SRTS program and haven't been able to find anyone through those contacts, but I appreciate the suggestion.

    Best,
    Ellen
