My Los Angeles organization has over 127 years of archival materials which we need to preserve. Does anyone have recommendations for finding and hiring an Archivist and/or interns?

The UCLA graduate program in Library and Information Science, which includes Archival Science, would have students interested in and needing internships. Here is the description of the Master of Library and Information Science degree:

Dr. Anne Gilliland, is the Associate Dean for Information Studies and her speciality is archives.  Here is her contact information:  UCLA GSE&IS Building 212     (310) 825-8799

For others wondering if there is a library science program in their area where graduates are looking for jobs and students are looking for internships, see the American Library Association directory of ALA Accredited programs:

Librarians have long been at the forefront of virtual work and we have worked out long distanced internship programs long before the pandemic-- I taught online from 2004 - 2014 and supervised practicums at a distance-- we know how to provide access to our resources! That's our thing.

The Society of American Archivists may also help:   Here is the Los Angeles affiliate

Sorry for sending to all but we are encouraged to do so. Good luck Karalee Balue!

Thank you, Lorna Peterson, for your excellent response.
I have an MLS from UCLA, and am well acquainted with its outstanding program.

UCLA Library School would be a good source.

And this from my friend Melissa Miller at USC:

USC has a Master of Management in Library and Information Science (MMLIS) graduate program through the Marshall School of Business. I'm an assistant professor for the MMLIS program and I teach / manage the internship program! I'm in the process of building the program and host sites - feel free to send my information to this person and if they are willing to host an intern for the fall, I'll pass it along to our program administrator and she'll pass it along to all eligible students.
    Best regards,
