If your community provides training for realtors in historic preservation (i.e., tax incentives, impacts of historic district designation), could you please share what form that training takes? (e.g., half-day, registration fee covers coffee and pastries, content provided by the Historic Preservation Commission staff). Thanks!

    Hello,

The Historic Preservation Section of the City of Jacksonville's Planning Department partnered with the Florida Division of Historical Resources to conduct a Tax Incentives (Federal and local) workshop here in November.  It was was from 1-4pm and we invited as many people as we could and sent out flyers. It was not a workshop specific to realtors but the majority of the attendees were realtors. We received great feedback from the realtors, they enjoyed it and learned quite a bit. I recently had one say we should offer it yearly so I know they really took a lot from it.  I have attached our agenda we put together if you are interested.

Maybe your SHPO would be willing to partner with your organization and do a small workshop training? Please contact me if you have any questions.

The Preservation Resource Center (PRC) in New Orleans provides "Historic House Specialist" training, which is a day long seminar.  It counts for several hours of continuing education for Realtors and must be accompanied by 2 additional hours of education credit from the PRC.   More info here: link
