Deadline: Not listedOffered by: Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Division of Architecture and PreservationLocation: Harrisburg, PAType: Full-timeSalary: $71,218Organization website: http://www.phmc.pa.gov/Pages/default.aspx The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission’s Division of Architecture and Preservation is seeking a dynamic leader in architecture and preservation to join its Harrisburg office as its Division Chief (official job title is Chief of Division of Architecture and Conservation.) The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission is responsible for more than 450 buildings across 34 historic sites and museums throughout the commonwealth, including the State Museum of Pennsylvania and the State Archives. The Division Chief is responsible for overseeing all preservation projects, infrastructure improvements, and new construction across these sites. With an annual project budget of approximately $36M, the Division Chief is responsible for developing project scopes, establishing project priorities, developing estimates and managing budgets. The Division Chief oversees a staff of 7-10 architects and preservation specialists. In addition to directing staff, the Chief is responsible for administering contracted professional services such as architecture and engineering. The Division Chief also directly manages design and construction projects, so the ability not only to review but also to develop construction drawings and specifications is essential. The successful candidate will have extensive preservation experience as well as a strong architectural background. In-depth experience in applying the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards is critical. The Division Chief works closely with senior staff, site staff, other agencies and Friends groups; excellent communications skills are imperative. Expertise in managing budget and personnel, strategic thinking and the ability to multi-task and prioritize are vital. Please note that PHMC is currently hiring in another architecture position: Architectural Consultant. Applying for one position will not qualify you for the other; candidates interested in working with PHMC’s Division of Architecture and Preservation are strongly encouraged to apply for both positions.
