The City of Columbia is looking for an energetic, professional individual interested in working in a vibrant, growing Southern city for the position of Planner with a specialty in historic preservation. The purpose of this position is to perform professional planning work in the administration and enforcement of design guidelines for City historic and design districts. This will include reviewing applications for rehabilitating or altering properties in historic districts, researching buildings, writing professional reports on projects, making presentations at various public meetings, and assisting property owners, architects, and developers. Applicant must be able to provide accurate, up-to-date historic preservation technical assistance to property owners. Excellent communication and analytical skills are a must. Applicant must also assist in the development of long-range plans for the City and to perform related work as assigned. Strong customer service skills and an upbeat, positive demeanor required.
